What an Accolade!

A ceremony was held at Kinlochewe Village Hall on Monday 4th September to officially welcome Wester Ross into the UNESCO network of worldwide Biospheres. The accolade is based on the combination of Wester Ross being an area of outstanding natural beauty and the willingness of communities to work together to strengthen local economies and to connect people with nature and cultural heritage. 32nd Great Wilderness Challenge is another Success!

There were 470 participants from all over the UK, Spain, Holland and the USA along with a strong contingent of local entrants. The 25 mile race was won by Alec Keith from Inverness with Kathleen Steventon from Ullapool being the first lady to finish. The 13 mile race winner was Eoin Coull from Evanton with Elizabeth Williams from Ullapool being the first lady to finish.
Congratulations to Rob Marshall from Laide and Ritchie Macrae from Kerrysdale who were the first locals to finish in the 25 and 13 Mile races respectively.
